Why did you sign up for FAB?
I thought why not? There was nothing to lose and I had no previous formal business training. I knew it would be an opportunity to gain insights on how business works and what I needed to do as a start-up.
What were the main benefits?
For me it was meeting and working with my cohort in FAB2. Realising we all had challenges, but that it is easier to solve things for others than yourself! Having a supportive, yet constructive and critical environment where the flaws in your plan could be pointed out as well as new ideas on how to meet your goals.
How did your business/ideas develop while you were on the programme?
FAB gave me the courage to know that there is a need for what I do and it wasn’t just a crazy idea. The visual marketing plan was super useful and I still use the template now. Having a mentor meant I could brainstorm ideas be coached through this in a non-judgmental way. My business went from a side hustle to me quitting my job and making a real go of things.
Where is your business now?
I am now running my business, Diverse Minds UK full time and doing well. I didn’t need any start-up funding, but had the connections to really get going. I have also undertaken some additional online courses for coaches and consultants, which has provided me with further insight into my area of work. It’s amazing how once you set your mind to it, you can do it. As they say in the entrepreneur world- the first person you have to sell to is yourself. If you believe that you can make it work in some way you will be a success.
